New Land-Rover Series 2a Bulkhead, Type 4

All Pegasus Bulkheads are manufactured from new metal, we do not recycle or reuse old component parts from donor bulkheads. All bulkheads are manufactured using our own precision drawings and jigs.

All original factory detail such as pressed ribs, captive nut pressings and complex folds are replicated. The average Pegasus Bulkhead is built up from over 100 component parts, each of which has been accurately CAD drawn, generating very precise manufacturing drawings. These drawings are then used by our sub-contractors to laser cut the panels and component parts, precision fold them as required and then build the bulkheads for us to our exacting quality standards. Unlike other manufacturers, every component part is faithfully replicated, enabling Pegasus Bulkheads to manufacture units specific to month and year of original vehicle build.

As an example, Pegasus can manufacture 17 different versions of the Series 2/2a bulkhead, unlike other vendors who supply a'one size fits all' bulkhead. All Pegasus Bulkheads are built up from individual components which are as accurate to the originals as possible. We do not cut corners and use generic'off the shelf' components. We manufacture all our own parts including door pillars and footwell panels to ensure consistent quality standards and fit.

Pegasus Bulkheads and their sub-contractors have many years of sheet metal working experience and resources and can reproduce all the original styles of pressing details, plunged holes, spire nut locations, footwell ribs etc. Once all component parts have been manufactured they are spot-welded together into sub-assemblies as required and then the bulkhead is built up on our 36 reference point assembly jig. Pegasus Bulkheads are built using spot welders just like the originals. All heavy duty brackets such as the bonnet hinges, tie rod brackets and bottom feet are welded into position using TIG welding as this replicates the original oxy-acetylene welding method that was used.
